Welcome to LargeUp’s street style series, Pop Style. Every other Friday, we’ll be talking sartorial shop with the most impeccably dressed men and women of the Caribbean and the diaspora, from familiar faces to everyday people pon di corner. Along the way we intend to show the world what we’ve long held true—no one’s got style and swagger quite like the islands.

Talk a little about your outfit today.

Well, it’s raining today, so I wrapped up my head with a kente cloth because my hair is cut really short and I don’t want to get sick…you know? I love wrapping my head. I love the cool colors and patterns, and how I can still be chic when I need a haircut.

Describe your personal style…

Uh, that’s hard to do, actually. I just buy what I like and dress according to my mood. Sometimes I want to slay a monochromatic look, and sometimes i want to wear menswear. It just depends.

And you’re rocking Clarks!

They’re actually from Bakers, when they had a store on Fulton. When I saw them, I had to get them.

What’s your favorite piece you own?

I don’t have it yet, but I will get “Cookie” from Jeffrey Campbell. They’re suede heels with faux fur around the ankle and toe straps… they are everything!
