largeup mixtape mondays 2

Some well-rounded selections this week at #MixtapeMondays with raw dancehall, upfull roots and poppy island vibes brought to you by a global cast of selectors.

LargeUp Premiere: Xyclone x Chief Rockers Sound, Road Ready Mixtape: Our guy DJ S-Man out in Australia at the Chief Rockers Sound headquarters has been busy championing a youth by the name of Xyclone straight from the Red Square camp. A Jamaican artist with settings in Philly, Xyclone is bringing a cutty urban sound to dancehall’s current wave dishing out bare lyrics and NSFW attitude. Definitely take a moment to give this a ride before him bust. Stream below

Lukie Wyniger, Draw Me Out: The one like Lukie Wyniger a.k.a Uncle Peng Peng out in Switzerland just blessed us with the latest roots and culture mix to nice up the week. Titled after one of our favorite one drop tunes of late from Kranium produced by Ricky Blaze, Draw Me Out compiles all the necessary new roots music making the rounds right now, sprinkled with some dubs and specials on top. DJ Cutlass, Tropical MaddHouse: Stuttgart, Germany’s DJ Cutlass has given his 2 cents on the “tropical house” vs. dancehall subject by putting together this mix of island vibes. Extended family of the mighty Jugglerz Sound, Cutlass responds to dancehall’s infectious and under-credited influence on popular music by fusing together a breezy selection of tunes from dancehall and pop music alike. Not that we need any more titles than we have already, but “island pop” would be an appropriate tag. Stream below, download here
