This past Sunday, LargeUp celebrated the rising of the “Supermoon” with a special Reggae Sunday Sunset Session at an NYC location so top secret, we can’t even disclose the name of it. (Our New York massive can probably make the ID from the pics, though). Guests at the event, which featured a live performance from dancehall legend Sister Nancy sounds from DJ Gravy, Micro Don, DJ Select and Ras Tayo of Twin Sounds, included Ricky Blaze, Sahr Ngaujah (from the casts of Fela and Last Resort), Bajah from the Dry Eye Crew, dancers Blacka di Danca, Lindsay HallKorie GeniusSaRiri, Soroya Lundy, Ai Wakabayashi and Shernita So Fly. Of course, Emily, Mikaila, Kieran, Winifred, Dre and Spliffington and the LargeUp crew was there in full effect—and so were Japanese media.

Our clandestine hosts fully larged up their food menu with rum cocktails and Jamaican dishes including red snapper, spicy shrimp, beef patties and jerk chicken. Sister Nancy went on right after the sun set, as the Super Full Moon began to rise. It began to drizzle about 20 minutes into her set, but folks just popped up umbrellas and didn’t skip a beat, and the rain eventually subdued before her set was over.

Check out some snaps from the affair on our Facebook page.
