I Wayne has been something of an enigma since emerging from obscurity in 2004 with “Can’t Satisfy Her.” Thanks to a deceptively upbeat melody and Wayne’s unique vocal delivery, the dark song about drugs, prostitution and general moral turpitude became the unlikely hit that helped kickstart a new roots movement and even became the first one-drop reggae song to break into the rotation on New York’s Hot 97. Our own creative director and photographer extraordinaire Martei Korley recently spent some time with the elusive singer in the hills near Upper Cane River Falls, in Jamaica, shooting the cover and sleeve art for his third LP Life Teachings, out tomorrow on VP Records. The photos seen here are outtakes from that shoot. Stream the album below, and buy it here tomorrow.
