Audio: Trever Off Key and Chedda “Play the Guitar”

B.O.B.’s “Play the Guitar” (featuring Andre 3000) definitely has one of the best beats of any hip-hop song recently and, like a lot of producer Salaam Remi’s hip-hop work, the Bo Diddley-sampling track has a drum pattern that works just as well in the dancehall, too. It seems that dancehall parodist Trevor Off Key and Chedda (who previously teamed with Mr. Off Key on the Vybz Kartel spoof, “Fake Jeans Admit It”) picked up on those vibes, coming together on a tune of their own on the “Play the Guitar” riddim, called “Lyrics To You Done.” Trevor puts his Jamaican Weird Al schtick aside for this one, focusing instead on flow and meds. We think he knocks it out the park—how about you?
