Selector’s Choice is back in Trinidad & Tobago this week, to check in with Lion Twin, the brother duo who have been holding down reggae sounds for the twin-island republic. You may have seen some of their recent mixtapes with Protoje, Queen Omega and Buzzrock featured on #MixtapeMondays recently. Here, they share their favorite current reggae tunes running the dances in T&T.

Blessings LargeUp, we are Lion Twin from Trinidad & Tobago, top reggae selectors out of the big sound system called Lion King Muzik. Born and grown as members of the Twelve Tribes of Israel faith, we are versed at all levels of reggae music. You can find us at all top reggae events in the country and also on 96.1wefm from 4-6pm. We are also founders and members of a new movement targeting reggae fans and followers across both islands. You can look out for some massive productions and mixtapes from us in the future.

Chronixx – Majesty

This song alone speaks for itself: Great lyrics and melodies, accompanied by a sweet Studio One instrumental. What else can you ask for? If you have never heard the original track on this instrumental, check it out. It’s the Godfather of Dancehall, Johnny Osbourne“We Need Love.”

Romain Virgo feat. Agent Sasco – Fade Away

One of our favorite vocalists and top dancehall artists together on the same tune! VOCALS AND LYRICS!!! Cannot forget the powerful message this track delivers to all listeners.

Jahmiel – Gain The World

A new artiste with a new hit tune. This songs speaks for all the people that work hard every day, making an honest living. The 2015/2016 Hustler Anthem.

Buzzrock – Jah Choir

Trinidad and Tobago’s No. 1 reggae band… This song is a year old but has recently picked up on the island. At our last few events, we dropped this track and it was well received by patrons.

Randy Valentine – Consequences

UK-based singer that’s hotting up the reggae scene worldwide. This is definitely one of our top choices at the moment. Big up to Randy!!

Busy Signal – Free Up

The first time we ever played this track was at a Twelve Tribes of Israel dance two weeks ago. When people heard the lyrics and the bounce of this riddim, the place went crazy. We immediately stop the track, and started it back from top.

Kakaba Pyramid – King of Kings

When we say Kabaka Pyramid, we say full ratings!!! Definitely one of our top reggae artiste in the world currently. Great message and lyrical content from Pyramid. All in all, the delivery behind this track was on point.

Chronixx – Spanish Town Rocking

A remake of Barrington Levy’s hit track “Prison Oval Rock,” this one has all the elements of a No. 1 track. When this song came out, we played it at Trinidad Dubwise Volume 3, and let’s just say the rest was history…

Reggae Vibes Riddim feat. Jah Mason, Ginjah and Fantan Mojah

For all the reggae DJs worldwide, if you don’t have this one in your playlist, now is the time to upload it. Our three favorite tracks on it are from Ginjah (“All this Time”), which is a track dedicated to all herbalist; Fantan Mojah, with “Only Jah Knows” which burns out all badmind behavior, and of course Jah Mason who sings a track (“Wipe Those Tears”) for the mothers.
