LargeUp Premiere: Pinchers x Bounty Killer – “Don’t Get Weary”

June 26, 2015

Pinchers-Bounty-Killer

Two of dancehall’s all-time baddest badmen unite over a classic riddim on Pinchers and Bounty Killer‘s “Don’t Get Weary.”

Kareem “Remus” Burrell of XTM.Nation produced the track, which revisits the Death in the Arena riddim, originally cut at Studio One by Coxsone Dodd. Various producers have revived the timeless instrumental over the years, including Burrell’s late father, Philip “Fatis” Burrell, who scored a pair of hits on it in the ’90s with Nadine Sutherland’s “Babyface” and Beres Hammond’s “Show it Off.” With the help of some classic musicians including Sly Dunbar and Dean Fraser, the younger Burrell successfully updates the riddim for 2015, reuniting the Bandolero and the Warlord on an uplifting track that’s a bit different than you might expect from a pairing of these renowned gunslingers.

“A Pinchers and Bounty Killer combination is one of those dream collaborations,” Burrell says. “I was a big fan of the earlier combination titled ‘Twenty One,‘ [and] I have always wanted to work with both these artiste on one track.”
