Welcome back to our new column “Selector’s Choice,” a bi-weekly look inside what your favorite DJs and selectors are holding in their record bags and hard drives right now. After kicking things off with Deejay Theory and Walshy Fire, this week we’ve got another longtime LargeUp family member, DJ Autograph, checking in.

What a gwan peoples! I’ve been busy planning two hefty mixtape releases, one with my Safari Sound family and the other, well, you’re going to have to wait for that. Don’t want to let the cat out of the bag just yet. Here are a few records from the box that I’ve been using or feeling lately.

Dubbel Dutch, “Red Nose Go Go Bunx Retool”

Dubbel Dutch’s “Red Nose Go Go Bunx Retool”  (featuring vocals from Cali rapper Sage the Gemini) is a perfect record for transitioning between hip-hop and dancehall segments when I do multi-genre gigs. Doesn’t hurt that used the riddim for Marcy Chin and DeeWunn’s “Bunx Up,” which is still one of my favorite records.

Beyoncé, “Partition” (Tony Goods Bootleg)

Along the same lines as the above is Tony Goods’ bootleg remix of Beyonce’s hit song “Partition.” Excellent tool for moving between dancehall, hip-hop and R&B.

Chronixx, Odd Ras” (Kenny Meez 0 to 100 Remix)

I’m sure most of you have heard the remix of Kranium’s “Nobody Has To Know” over Kid Ink & Chris Brown’s “Show Me” beat. What you may not know is that Kenny Meez of Federation Sound did it. He definitely strikes gold again with his blend of Chronixx’s “Odd Rass” and Drake’s “0 to 100.” A must for the crates.

Serani featuring Chi Ching Ching, “Up & Away”

Walshy Fire mentioned Chi Ching Ching’s “Way Up, Stay Up” in the last Selector’s Choice. There is actually a second tune to go with that song’s titular dance, entitled “Up & Away” by Serani featuring Chi Ching Ching. I feel like this is going to be a big one in a couple months so watch out fi dis.

Road Elf, “Fren Killa”

Road Elf (the artist formerly known as Terro 3000) has been on a hot streak lately. “Fren Killa” is his tune on the Ballaz-produced Mesh Marina riddim. The entire riddim is bad (as in good), but Elf definitely has the standout tune on this one.
