LargeUp Premiere: Juss Kool’s 86 Riddim (Brazil Version)

March 31, 2017

86 RIDDIM BRAZIL ARTWORK

U.S.-based Jamaican producer and LargeUp contributor Juss Kool released his 86 Riddim in July, with an all-Jamaican cast headed up by Future Fambo. A throwback to a grittier time in dancehall that was inspired in part by Dave Kelly’s classic 85 Riddim, the instrumental found some major love in Brazil, where it’s been voiced by numerous local artists leading to this reissue of the riddim featuring an all-Brazilian cast.

The 86 Riddim Brazil Version features nine new tunes from Brazilian dancehall artists, plus a mix from Brazilian selector DJ ED. “I was contacted by DJ ED, who let me know that the 86 Riddim is very popular in Brazil,” Juss Kool explains. “He requested to voice on the riddim and I obliged. Along the way more people kept hearing about it, and he presented me with a full album!” Stream the full 86 Riddim Brazil Version right here, and go get it on iTunes here.
