In the first installment of our Live From the Jamrock Cruise webisode series, shot aboard the Welcome to Jamrock Reggae Cruise, we sat down with dancehall icon Cham. For Part 2, we meet up with reggae Protoje, as he relaxed following his set on the cruise’s opening night.

For Protoje, the Jamrock Cruise capped off his biggest year yet, one in which he released his third album Ancient Future, hit the road in the U.S., and saw his single “Who Knows” become the first Jamaican reggae track to be playlisted by BBC1 in nearly 10 years.

Ironically, the last track to hold that distinction was “Welcome to Jamrock” by Jr. Gong, Damian Marley, captain of the Jamrock Cruise and our host for the week —a fitting fact Protoje duly acknowledged as we talked over the high points of the last 12 months.

With Protoje’s first Coachella appearance set for April, and a homecoming event in Kingston on tap for tomorrow, it’s already looking like a promising 2016 for the singjay. And, who knows, there might be some more big announcements coming soon from the Indiggnation camp.

Watch the video below, check out more highlights from this year’s Jamrock Cruise here, and keep it locked on LargeUp.com more episodes.
