1. Jesse Royal x Walshy Fire, Royally Speaking

jesseroyal

Jamaican reggae singer Jesse Royal was our leading artist to watch in 2014 and no doubt made a huge impact across the board this year. A standout for Jesse was this collaboration with Walshy Fire who took the opportunity to shed some light on Jesse’s talent via the rather impactful Major Lazer stamp (and, more recently, his “Noisey Jamaica” series).

The Royally Speaking mixtape is laced with original tunes, dubplates and various remixes hip-hop and otherwise from Walshy plus sharp artwork from the one Marcus Burrowes, of Rockers NYC fame. In a similar vein to Major Lazer and Chronixx‘s wicked Start a Fyah mixtape, which we debuted last year, this one holds a big vibe that has us eagerly anticipating what’s next from both Jesse and Walshy.
