Rub A Dub Market

‘Round here, we know Martei Korley as our creative director (not to mention co-founder and chief photographer) but he’s also a crooner who—when he’s not shooting Beres album covers or taking flicks for Rolling Stone—has recorded with some of Jamaica’s top musicians and producers.

After dropping the Mitchum “Khan” Chin-produced single “Concrete Flower” last year, Martei’s just dropped a mission statement of sorts called “Rub A Dub Soldier.” Over IrieVibration Records’ Rub A Dub Market riddim (which also features Luciano, Ward 21 with Tifa, Kabaka Pyramid and others), Martei takes Pro Tools and Logic-reliant microwave music to task with lines like, “I don’t know what kind of story they sold you/Music nuh come out of folder… Rehearsal too hard so dem quantize/better dem try getting sound right.”

Stream “Rub A Dub Soldier” below, buy on iTunes here and check out the full Rub A Dub Market riddim here.
