Words by DJ Theory—

Another big week on hand here at Mixtape Mondays. A seldom heard moment in soundsystem culture is accompanied by a modern roots premiere and uncut dancehall bizness, as we fix up  your Monday and your speakers straight away.

LargeUp Premiere: Rampage Global, Let It Play: Our folks at Rampage Sound Global are back at it, with a breezy new roots and culture CD blasting off right here on Mixtape Mondays. Setting the tone with Busy Signal’s necessary Reggae Music Again,” we move into vibes from JA, Belize and Europe, with brand new tunes from big names and lesser-known artists alike including Jr. Gong, J Boog, Yami Bolo, Million Styles, Jesse Royal, Sara Lugo, Nello Player, Kabaka Pyramid and more. Repping NYC, Tokyo and Belize, selectors Fatfingaz, Yos and Ms. Lauren Hill’s DJ Rampage have been in the sound business and mixtape game for a minute, and they hand delivered this one-drop singers mix just to brighten and warm up your week ahead—particularly if you’re a friend on the east coast. Listen and download below, tracked version here.

Silverhawk Sound, Playing Strictly Ninja Man & Shabba Ranks dubplates: WHOA GOSH. Sometimes a rare treasure gets unearthed from the depths of mixtape history and this is clearly one of them. 100% blistering Ninja Man and Shabba Ranks dubplates (?!) from the beginning of the 90’s. Raw, uncut and told by the one and only Silverhawk Sound—the soundsystem home of iconic reggae and dancehall producer Wycliffe “Steely” Johnson for a quarter-century now. I think the seriousness of this tape goes without saying, download this immediately. Stream below, download here.

DJ Green B, Go Hard: Big new dancehall thing from San Francisco-based DJ Green B, holding it down for the Cooyah Ladeez ‘longside partner-in-wine DJ Daneekah. Not the first time she’s graced the pages of MM, her dancehall and roots mixes always deliver and Go Hard is no different, cleanly rinsing over an hour of current bashment singles and riddims—cooked up for her guest show on Sirius XM’s “The Joint“. Run chune. Stream and download below, tracklist here.
