We thought the celebrity DJ phenomenon had reached its endgame with Madonna and Lindsay Lohan (or at least Dennis Rodman) but it seems that we were mistaken. According to an explosive (in our corner of the world, at least) report in the British Sun, Prince Harry now has designs on becoming a reggae DJ. The “Playboy Prince,” who recently visited Jamaica on a goodwill trip that included visits with Rita Marley and enthusiastic female dancers, apparently returned from yard with a newfound love of Jamaican music and, according to a friend cited in the story, has begun supplementing his extensive house music collection with reggae vinyl and “learning how to mix records old-school style” (not our words) from a DJ friend. We can’t blame the Clarks enthusiast for getting bit by the reggae bug, and his appreciation for Jamaican culture seems to be pretty sincere… we’re just wondering what his DJ name will be. Prince Har-I? Harry Toddla T? This might be a little obscure if you didn’t spend the ’80s in the States, but personally I’m pulling for “Spencer for Hire.”
