Mixtape Mondays

Summer just left but all of the mixtape heat is still here. For this week’s Mixtape Mondays, we found some toppa top mixes to keep the summer vibes going, so let’s get right into it!

Deejay Theory, 30m Day Rave: The 30m Mixtape Series has been releasing nothing but heat from globally renowned DJs, and enlisted the services of the mighty Deejay Theory for their 11th edition. Theory is known for taking listeners on a musical journey and this mix is no exception. Hit play and you’ll find yourself on a beach somewhere in the Caribbean where the weather is always sweet and the music is always good. This mix is dancehall heavy but you’ll also find lots of soca, Afrobeat and UK flavors mixed in along with many sick remixes you’ll have a hard time finding elsewhere. Pure fiyah every time! Stream below:

Vertex Sound, Up Top Mix: Toronto’s Vertex Sound has been putting out quality mixtapes for well over a decade and never fails to satisfy. Their releases are always the perfect selection of strictly the best dancehall fiyah with a dash of dubplates to show you they mean business. Up Top brings us the biggest chunes from 2018 and really plays like a “best of” so far for this year. You’ll find all the hits from artists like Alkaline, Popcaan, Vybz Kartel and all the other current top notch performers. Zero filler, all killer. Stream below:

Gappy Ranks, Pon Di Lawn Vol. 2: UK reggae and dancehall artist Gappy Ranks has been doing his thing since 2002 but really busted world wide in 2011 with his huge chune “Stinkin’ Rich.” Since then he’s put out lots of big hits and stays busy releasing new music and remixes constantly. It’s clear that Gappy has a deep appreciation for sound clash culture. This is evident on Pon Di Lawn Volume 2, an EP plays like a mixtape and unleashes a flurry of sound killing type tracks on classic reggae riddims from the 80s and 90s. Definitely not to be missed.
