Yes family – hope everyone is enjoying their holiday weekend and are able to take the day off of work today! Labor Day is the time to BBQ with your loved ones and hold a vibe or two in the backyard or at the beach, but whatever today brings you we’ve got the soundtrack selected below.

Riggo Suave, Ready for Labor Day Mix 2018: To many good people out there Labor Day means an incurable thirst for soca, and thankfully Brooklyn’s own Riggo Suave has a remedy just for you. If you’re ready to chip on de road today for the West Indian Day Parade and J’Ouvert – and soca is your drink of choice – everything you need is right here on this mix. Flags up for Barbados, St. Lucia, Vincy, Grenada, Trinidad and beyond… Stream and download your official carnival warmup below.

Chinese Assassin, Beat, Teach and Destroy: If you’re a regular in the dancehall mixtape arena then you’re no doubt familiar with this sound. Known for connecting unique concepts within their mixes, this is one of the best examples of that I’ve heard from Chinese Assassin to date. Weaving and remixing the latest dancehall with its original counterparts from years past (think the original Giggy Riddim and Vybz Kartel Ring A Rozy for starters) the mix runs hot from start to finish and lives up to it’s accurate title.

Fifty Kaliba Sound, Global Medz Vol.4: In comes the sound called Fifty Kaliba outta Miami with a solid roots & culture mix to round out this holiday lineup. Part four in the Global Medz series, this one spotlights all the current one drop and culture captivating global ears and airwaves at the moment. Kaliba was also responsible for mixing the Paradise Plum Mixtape from Naomi Cowan we’ve been rinsing over here lately, and delivers another with Global Medz 4. Easy choice for holding a meds today, whatever that may mean to you – for me, it’s taking my dog to the river with my daughter on my back… Bless up.
