It’s been a breakout year for Shenseea, and she’s definitely ending things loud. Dancehall’s newest star delivers one of her strongest statements yet in her new video for “Rolling” with Sean Paul, and we’ve got the exclusive premiere right here.

Since arriving on the scene a little over a year ago with “Jiggle Jiggle,” Shenseea has made a habit of dropping hot collaborations. Notably, she held her own next to Vybz Kartel on “Loodi,” a track which catapulted her into dancehall’s upper echelon and gained her instant international attention. Sean Paul, like everyone else, has had his eyes on the young talent’s career. The dancehall superstar recently featured her, along with Chi Chi Ching, on his latest European tour, and they’ve now got a wicked combination tune of their own in “Rolling,” which dropped on iTunes via Dubshot Records in September.

“I’ve been watching Shenseea’s career from the beginning, and I liked her voice and respected her serious approach to the business,” Sean tells us. “So when [Shenseea’s manager and producer] Romeich linked me to jump on ‘Rolling,’ I said, Mi ready, let’s do it.”

With its recorder melody, this is not your typical dancehall song, and fittingly, different is the name of the game for this video. The concept is about a “gang of misfits [who have] taken a group of dancers hostage with a sophisticated weapon, and their only hope is to be saved by a dancehall superhero who is the only one impervious to the magical flute.” Dancers appear as dancehall mummies who have been enchanted by the whistling from a recorder played by a dwarf. And of course, the superhero who rescues them is none other than Shenseea herself… Well, OK!

Trust us, you haven’t seen a dancehall video quite like this before. Produced by Sean Paul’s Dutty Rock Productions with Romeich Entertainment, and directed by RD Studios, this is definitely one you’ll remember. Here you have it, the video premiere of “Rolling” by Shenseea and Sean Paul. Let us know your thoughts below, and look out for LargeUp’s upcoming feature on Shenseea. Big tings a gwaan.
