In these days and times when turning on the news is enough to make you vomit, it’s nice to know some good music can still help get you through. Bun dung babylon with some big bad dubplates, buss a whine to the newest soca and slap up some walls to some dancehall favorites in this week’s mixtape picks.

DJ Sabz, Mash It Up: DJ Sabz of the UK’s Wassmuffin Sound System has come up with a mix that could easily be called “A Night at the Dancehall” because all the current big chunes are here from every genre you might hear. Sabz runs through all the dancehall, soca, hip hop, R&B and afrobeat hits you could ask for with a sprinkling of dubplates and a well mixed track list. Put this one on before you hit the club and you might not end up going out at all. Stream below:

Reid Waters, Reid Waters Radio Wave 015: Miami’s Reid Waters broadcasts live every Tuesday from 5 to 6pm Eastern on 1am Radio running mainly dancehall and reggae in any form he sees fit. Last week’s episode especially caught our ear with Reid flexing hard as he pulled out all the baddis dubplates from his dub box to prove no likkle idiat soundbwoy cyan test. Look out for lots of new Popcaan tracks as well! Stream below:

Bloodline Franco, Soca Preview 2017: By now you can bet that most of 2017’s biggest Soca chunes have dropped as artists get their audiences ready for the approaching Carnival season. Jamaica’s Bloodline Franco enlists the help of Trinidad’s Erphaan Alves on hosting duties for this run down of all the latest jump up soca to get you ready for di road. It’s yet to be decided which tracks will be the biggest of the year but they’re all here on Soca Preview 2017. Decide for yourself. Stream below:
