Electric Punanny Vol 6

This week we head coast to coast with offerings from New York to Seattle then up to Canada and over to Germany with some big big mixes including a LargeUp premiere from our Electric Punanny family. There’s lots to hear so let’s get into it.

LargeUp Premiere: Electric Punanny Mixtape Volume 6: Brooklyn DJ duo Jasmine Solano and MeLo-X, otherwise known as Electric Punanny, continues their annual mixtape series with Volume 6, picking up where Volume 5 left off. Dropping big chunes from all over the globe, this mix runs down some of the finest Nigerian Afrobeat, Brazilian Baike Funk and UK Grime one can find plus of course huge dancehall tracks outta JA. Electric Punanny always come through with masterful genre blending and put you on to tracks you might not know but definitely should. Look out for them at a special Heineken Green Room Series in NYC and Philly this April and stream this dope mix below:

Zions Gate Sound – Breath of Life: Selecta Element of Zions Gate Sound outta Seattle brings us a two-hour mix of the latest reggae hitting speaker boxes worldwide, featuring the likes of JahmieI, Chronixx, Demarco, Kranium, Dexta Daps and Kabaka Pyramid. Look for wicked juggling of many recent riddims including one of my favorites from last year “True Colors” and the pure positivity on the Day Off riddim. Nuff conscious vibes a gwaan. Stream and download below:

Sentinel Sound x Lion D – Welcome Di Heartical Don: The “everlasting sound” outta Stuttgart, Germany has been know to kill a sound bwoy and mash up di dance but Sentinel has also been showcasing a lot of Europe’s reggae artist as well with special collaboration mixtapes and here we find them linking with Italy’s Lion D for this almost strictly dubplate mix. It’s clear that Lion D knows how to deal with any kind of riddim from rub a dub to dancehall and this promising new artist comes off like a veteran on the mic. Expertly mixed and produced by Sentinel Sound, this compilation is one you should definitely peep. Stream and download below:

DJ Arems – The Best of QQ: We seal things up with another mix focused strictly on one artist – the “Stuckie” and “One Drop” creator himself, QQ, by yours truly. While he’s best known for the two aforementioned dance floor filling chunes, QQ’s catalog is large. He kicked things off at the age of 10 on the Spiritual War Riddim with the track “Poverty” and found fame at 11 years old with the hit Stuckie. Since then he’s been dropping dance move orientated songs non-stop and constantly keeping you bussin a wine. I put this mix together of my favorite QQ tracks as he’ll be rolling through my home town this week to perform live. Get familiar with the name because it’s obvious QQ intends to be around for a long time. Stream and download below.
