Last year, we brought some much-needed bashment party vibes out to South by Southwest, with the first SxSW edition of New York’s famed Rice and Peas party. The event, which featured Bunji Garlin, Fay-Ann Lyons, Jesse Royal, Screechy Dan and Los Rakas, made a huge splash, even gaining coverage in Rolling Stone thanks to Bunji’s electrifying performance.

This year, we’re teaming with presenters RDPR, Winnie K. Mgmt. and Coyah Productions for a full-on live music showcase featuring some of the top names in Caribbean music. Machel Montano, Gyptian, Mr. Vegas, Laza Morgan and Nyla highlight a lineup which also includes LargeUp’s own DJ Gravy and Deejay Theory on the turntables. It all happens Friday night March 20th, from 8pm-2am at The Palm Door at Sixth & Patio in downtown Austin, Texas, as part of a double bill with the Sounds From Africa showcase featuring Dโ€™banj, Davido, Wizkid, Ice Prince, Sarkodie,ย R2bees, Samini, Victoria Kimani and Serge Beynaud, happening concurrently (In the same venue!)

Get yourself prepared for this massive event with parts 1 and 2 of our Machel Montano video series below, as well as some clips from past LargeUp events with Mr. Vegas, and make sure to plan your SxSW accordingly.

UPDATE: Kabaka Pyramid has been added to the show.
