Words by Natalie Weiner—
This record focuses on tracks from (mostly Brooklyn-based) artists from across the Caribbean, including Jamaican DJ Trawma and BK-via-Guyana’s Jahdan Blakkamoore. Although the sounds range from melancholy (“In These Times“) to gritty dance anthems (the decidedly unchill “Chill“), they’ve all got the edgy electronic sound that’s the label’s signature. All the EPs will go on sale in December via the label’s Bandcamp page, but you can stream them on Soundcloud now. They’ve even released a mixtape that puts the new tracks in the context of some of our favorite recent dancehall jams like Timberlee’s “Duppy” and Aidonia’s “Pon Di Jockey”—check it below: https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/119101066
