St Patricsjamaica

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! It may not be obvious to everyone but we can chat about the Irish-Jamaican historical and cross-cultural connections beer after beer for ninety nine days straight. We can even write a few books on the matter (if they don’t already exist, that is). From blood pudding to surnames to the audible and eerie (not to be confused with “irie”) sounding similarities between Jamaican patois and the broken English dialect spoken in Cork, where many Irish folks began their voyages to Jamrock, Jamaica owes a lot to the Emerald Isle. (For more similarities, check this blog, written by a Jamaican-American expat living in that southern Irish city) On behalf of LargeUp, cheers to all the winners… and don’t forget to tell Danny Bwoy the pipes and chalices are calling.
