The dudes over at Mad Decent just put us up on this opening at Los Angeles gallery Dem Passwords featuring the first-ever exhibit of Lee “Scratch” Perry’s paintings and drawings. The inventor of the reggae beat and co-creator of dub music has been making these images since the 70s, combining spiritual iconography borrowed from Rasta, obeah and Afrocentric Christianity with comicbook heros and other fragments of pop culture into artworks that are as much ritual objects as illustrations. Takes place tomorrow, Saturday, November 13th, from 7 to 10pm. Flyer and address after the jump:
