The Theophilian program of world domination continues, as this brilliant cover of Nat King Cole’s “Calypso Blues” tears up the blogosphere.

Is it just me or is King Cole everywhere these days? Chappelle spoofed him, Busy Signal rated him and now Theoph has given him the nowadays hipster stamp of officiality with this Dap-Kings collaboration. I fully expect that Omega will be covering “Quizas” any day now. Which might be kind of wicked, actually.

If you’re new to the sounds of Mr. London, check the versatility by comparing with the original, Jr. Gong’s version (“No, King! Don’t do hot dog!”) and–the man to beat–Marvin Gaye. Oh, and don’t sleep Willie Rosario. Then cross-reference against the new “Hey Yourself” video below (via FADER)–after you’ve caught up with other recent Theophilus joints here and here.
