As promised Gold Shop has dropped part two of their re-issue run of 45s on seminal NY dancehall labels with new 45s originally released on both African Love and Witty’s. We’re particularly feeling the “Rough Wine” juggling on Witty’s. The Sluggy Ranks tune of the same name was the local hit and Junior Wilson’s “Mama Told Me” is the super-collectible piece but it’s fallen soldier Nitty Gritty singjaying the euro out of the Eurhythmics synthpop classic “Sweet Dreams” that is truly revelatory. Chi boom deh.
