Toronto’s own Kardinal Offishall is back with a brand-new tune from his Island Boy Cartel crew. The hip-hop banger “Push A Button,” features fire verses from British/St. Kittian MC Lady Leshurr and St Thomas’ Anything ILL (of Planet VI/Rock City), as well as Kardinal himself.
Last time we encountered the Jamaican-Canadian MC, he was down inna yard with Bounty Killer, filming the video for IBC’s dancehall-inspired “Tattoo (Rudebwoy).” “Push A Button” finds him back on the mainland, bringing his swagger-heavy flow to a dramatic, opera-sampling beat from producers Burd & Keyz. But there’s certainly enough island flavor to warrant the Island Boy Cartel label, with Kardi, Anything ILL and Leshurr (who steals the show with her spitfire verse) each bringing a touch of their islands’ own patois to the proceedings. Listen below, and look out for more Island Boy Cartel on LargeUp in the very near future.
