Free Reggae: Marley’s Mellow Mood’s “Tune In Tuesdays” Series Presents Raging Fyah

Words by LargeUp Crew—

Marley’s Mellow Mood has come up with a new way to “free the people with music,” launching a weekly free music download series, co-curated by LargeUp, and dubbed Tune in Tuesdays. Each Tuesday, this link features a download of a new single from a different artist.

This week’s featured act is “Naah Look Back” from Raging Fyah. The six-piece band, who are fresh off an early A.M. performance at last week’s Rebel Salute concert, are at the forefront of a new wave of young bands helping to revive the live music scene in Jamaica. Their debut LP, Judgment Day, was released in 2011.

Describe your sound in 20 words or less…

Classic reggae in today’s generation, representing Roots, Reality and Culture

What role does your heritage play in your music?

Our heritage plays a significant role in the creation of our music. It helps us to align ourselves and be true to ourself/being. It also helps us to be aware of who we are as black men, and to uphold our race and culture, as our forefathers [did].

What can we expect to hear from you in the next year?

In the near future, you can expect to hear our new single releases “Naah Look Back” and “Raging Dread.” We have an upcoming spring tour in Europe, and hope to spread our wings in new territories worldwide

Where did you get the idea and inspiration to write “Naah Look Back”?

The inspiration is the truth. When you know where you’re going, there is no need to look back. Where we wish our peoples of the earth to be is a place where they will be warm, rested and fed—the place where you will bask in the brightest most beautiful light. “Naah Look Back” is the track to remind us and others of the importance of knowing one’s self. Mental slavery must end.

What are your ultimate ambitions as a group?

To spread the message and sound of love, share the joy of life in playing our part in the advancement and development of a conscious earth that beats within one harmony. Jah love.
