Impressions: Images From Rebel Salute, Pt. 2

Photos and Words by Martei Korley—

We pick up our coverage of Jamaica’s Rebel Salute on Day Two of Tony Rebel’s annual reggae stage show, which featured performances from I-Wayne, Richie Spice, Chronixx, Protoje, Queen Ifrika and, in his first live appearance in years, the return of ’90s dancehall legend Terror Fabulous—and that was just before the sun came up. Busy Signal, making his second major performance in a month after his triumphant return to the stage at Sting, had the task of performing at sunrise. While Busy conjured the daylight, it was Sizzla who had the honor of closing the show, ending the event in style with a suit-and-tie look and friends Ras Shiloh and Teflon. Scroll through the thumbnails for Martei Korley’s photo essay from Rebel Salute Day Two.

I-Wayne received nuff forwards from the crowd—some even hoisted their chairs in support (see above photo). Lava!

Ifrika also featured Wayne J—you will have seen him in our coverage of St. Mary Mi Come From—Jamaica’s best bet for a child artist. The next Beenie Man? His set was all positive lyrics that would make some grown up artists blush. According to his management he has 150 tracks…
