Video: Protoje “Kingston Be Wise”

Words by DJ Theory—

A very large and undeniably inspired roots and culture tune from JA singer Protoje surfaced in inboxes recently, with a quick and solid response from some of the industy’s elite. The song—produced by frequent Protoje collaborator and big boss Don Corleone— rides impeccable 80’s digital roots style production, with Protoje delivering the message in fine style and giving a taste of what to look forward to in his upcoming sophomore EP, The 8 Year Affair. The video—running through and high above the streets and garrisons of Kingston—embodies this short story he wrote two years ago, based on the events of May 23rd, 2010 when the Jamaican government deployed its military into Tivoli Gardens in West Kingston.

If you’re feeling the song and video, be wise and let the world and the team know by tweeting @Protoje @doncorleonie with hashtag #KBW. Download the lyrics, wallpaper, artwork and short story here, and look out for the record when it drops in early 2013.
