Words by Jesse Serwer
Imagine Kardinal Offishall, Pitbull and Ricky Blaze all got together and made some sad-sack, tearjerker music. Well, keep dreaming because that would never happen. “Let’s Cheer” brings together three artists known for their festiveness and their summit is as energetic and celebratory as one would expect. Their shared agendas notwithstanding, each brings his own flavor to the track: Pitbull, the Espanol lyrics and global appeal; Ricky Blaze, the melody; and Kardinal, the X-factor, ramping the song’s energy up several notches with his emergence at the 1-minute mark. Stream and download “Let’s Cheer” below, and get up on Kardinal’s history of cross-cultural collaborations in our Heds and Dreds column.
