Youโd be forgiven if you missed the arrival of Tarrus Riley and Shenseeaโs โLighterโ video. It debuted Sunday amidst what was, for quarantine times at least, a busy holiday weekend. You may be alone, however: After just a few days, itโs already topped 2 million views.
Most of Tarrusโ new album Healing was co-produced by Riley and long-time musical collaborators Shane Brown and Dean Fraser. For โLighter,โ Mr. Singy Singy enlisted the services of Rvssian (with whom heโs previously collaborated on โDonโt Come Backโ and โGraveyardโ), who brought the most commercial track on the album โ and perhaps in the careers of either Riley or Shenseea.
When you have a big anthem with big pop hooks like this, you have to have a big video too, right? The team at Xtreme Arts entw all out with their mix of Kingston scenery and glossy studio scenes, creating a stimulating visual thatโs being widely shared on Instagram. While the track clocks in at just a little over two minutes, the video manages to pack in some real story, following Tarrus and Shenseea as two lovers on a scenic drive.
