Impressions: Sister Nancy + DollarVan Live at The Kennedy Center ๐Ÿ‡ฏ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ฏ๐Ÿ‡ฒ

LargeUp recently teamed up with The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. to present a special performance from reggae/dancehall legend Sister Nancy, with backing from DJ Gravyโ€™s NYC-based musical collective, DollarVan. The event, which took place on Wednesday evening, April 3rd, was the first reggae show ever presented at the Kennedy Centerโ€™s Presidential Performing Arts Center. How about that?

Watch the entire performance below, and scroll down for some of our favorite photos from the event.

So who is DollarVan you ask? Guitarist Natty Frenchy has been performing for the last 20 years with everyone from The Skatalites to Sizzla.

Dam Drumz is mellow. Until he gets on that kit, of course.

Selah Don, a bad singer originally hailing from Stony Hill, has been reppinโ€™ the BX big and serious.

DollarVan did their thing backing up Sister Nancy and Selah Don. Opening with nods to Billy Cobham and Grace Jones, their warm-up set featured live remixes of Damian Marleyโ€™s โ€œWelcome To Jamrockโ€ and Collie Buddzโ€™s โ€œCome Around.โ€

Juvenile, you better Gwan A School! No one was expecting twenty 11-year-old girls from South Carolina, but there they were โ€” and full of energy.

The DollarVan crew with Sister Nancy shortly after a successful performance.

Reflecting on the way home from a historical event.
