LargeUp Premiere: Jahdan Blakkamoore + Akae Beka Join Forces on “Earth Cry”

Stalwart vocalist Jahdan Blakkamoore (known for his work with the Lustre Kings and Major Lazer, among many others) teams up with living reggae legend Akae Beka (aka Vaughn Benjamin, formerly of Midnite) on this important call to arms. A haunting banger produced by international production outfit Zion I Kings, “Earth Cry” pays homage to the struggles and survivors of the recent natural disasters throughout the Caribbean and beyond. The composition, originally tracked with a live baby grand piano, Hammond organ, live drums, bass and guitars all through a vintage Neve console at Brooklyn, NY’s Virtue and Vice studio.

Supporting the single is a superb, B-side dub version from modern roots master Laurent “Tippy” Alfred, a.k.a. I Grade Dub, one-third of the Zion I Kings along with Andrew “Moon”  Bain and Jah David. Stream both versions below. The single release is now available via iTunes and Juno.
