Mixtape Mondays: Kieran Meadows, Max Glazer, DJ Roy

Words By DJ Arems

We just set back the clocks and it’s cold and dark outside but we’ve found the perfect mixtapes to nice up your week and keep the tropical vibes flowing. You might not need to leave the house for several days when you hit play on the LargeUp Premiere from Kieran Meadows plus veterans Max Glazer and DJ Roy round out our picks for a stellar edition of Mixtape Mondays.

LargeUp Premiere: Kieran Meadows, Excuse the Exxxpression, It’s Sexual Tension: Musician, DJ and LargeUp contributor Kieran Meadows has put together another one of his well thought-out concept mixtapes, this one focusing on the rampin shop – pure dancehall slackness to buss ah slow wine to… or possibly start di daggerin. You’ll find chunes from all the bedroom bullies like Vybz Kartel, Konshens, Alkaline, Spice, and Vershon, and the theme is simple: raw sex. This nearly 80-minute live mix is perfectly blended and provides some high energy X-rated vibes to set di ting off right. Stream below:

Max Glazer, The Equiknoxx Show – NTS Radio: Once a month on NTS Radio, the Equiknoxx collective out of Kingston, Jamaica host a one-hour radio show with special guest artist interviews and guest DJ sets. This month our good bredrin Max Glazer of Federation Sound blessed the NTS airwaves with a dubplate-heavy mix that will have you hitting the repeat button all day. This, unfortunately, is a short guest set and it definitely leaves you craving more. More than half the tracks are dubs from artists like Chronixx, Protoje, Bounty Killer and Konshens and Max takes the time to mix them well with special blends and classic Federation Style re-fixes. This one is timeless. Stream below:

DJ Roy, Dancehall Meets Reggae Volume 2: Jamaica’s own DJ Roy is carving his name in the mixtape game as one of the masters with his consistent releases providing all the latest fiyah rattling sound systems throughout the islands. Dancehall meets Reggae Volume 2 is hot off the press and gives us one of those rare chances to hear both reggae and dancehall mixed together on a strictly brand-new music release. If you love dancehall, there’s very little chance you don’t like reggae too, and DJ Roy links up all the latest boom shots right here from Popcaan, Vershon, Alkaline, Jah Vinci, Bugle and many more.
