LargeUp Premiere: Poirier ft. Fwonte “Pale Mal” (Equiknoxx Remix)

Words by Deejay Theory

Wicked combination on deck to activate your weekend dropped off from veteran deejay/producer Poirier and his Nice Up! Records camp via Montreal/London. Fusing energies with Kingston producers Equiknoxx and Haitian vocalist Fwonte, the Equiknoxx boys put a unique flip on the upbeat skanky original with their now-signature applications of deeper frequencies and generally off-center aesthetics as characterized by their 2016 album Bird Sound Power. A classic dancehall pattern paired with a thick rubber band bassline, minimal vocal licks and stretchy synths take this tune to new heights.

Stream the remix below, or you can cop right now on Bandcamp here. Available on all platforms February 24th.

For extra Vitamin D, peep the original video for “Pale Mal” filmed on location in Haiti right here.
