Patrick and Paul Gaynor–aka Twin of Twins–are two of Jamaica’s slyest social critics and funniest comedians. After years skewering dancehall, politics and Jamaican society in general through their Stir It Up mixtape series, the brothers make their movie debut in Ching Pow: Far East Yardies, a movie in which they aren’t seen so much as heard. A Kung Fu flick “versioned” in Jamaican patois, the visuals in Ching Pow come from Ninja Death, a little known Taiwanese kung-fu trilogy from the ’80s, but the story is re-fashioned into something uniquely Jamaican.

Following a month-long run of packed screenings at Kingston’s Theatre Place, Far East Yardies makes its US debut this a Miss Lily’s Variety this Friday night, October 3rd, at 6:30 p.m. LargeUp’s Jesse Serwer and Sherman Escoffery will host a Q+A with Producer/Director Bruce Hart after the movie.
