Viral Video Watch: Lucas Dipasquale’s Acoustic Popcaan Mashup

Words by DJ Autograph

Our friend Mamachel was the first person to put us on to this clip of Lucas Dipasquale doing a medley of Popcaan songs. A few days later, and it’s already up to 35,000+ views on Youtube, been played on Zip FM in Jamaica, and scored a co-sign from Popcaan himself.

Why the fuss? This kid’s interpretation of Popcaan’s hits (“Party Shot,” “Only Man She Want,” etc.) is impressive not only because of the unexpected acoustic element but more so because he managed to accurately nail 99% of Popcaan’s lyrics, and re-sing them IN PATOIS. Those Canadians, I tell you. Lucas has a bunch of other covers up, which you can check out here, but this is by far our favorite for obvious reasons.
