LargeUp Premiere: Vybz Kartel’s “Hi”

Words by LargeUp Crew—

One way or another, Vybz Kartel is going to make hits. The deposed Werl’ Boss has put out music as consistently during his incarceration as he did before it (maybe even more so), and his latest batch of material has included some of his best work since his peak in 2009 and ’10. Kartel had us looking forward to “School” recently with his throwback dancehall tune by that name, and now he’s got an anthem for everyone looking to get high and wave “hi” to their haters and supporters alike. The track, produced by go-to riddim maker RVSSIAN, is Kartel at his funniest (and cockiest), so pay attention to the lyrics. Stream here and check out RVSSIAN and the Head Concussion crew’s new site, HCR World, while you’re at it for more dancehall goodies.
