Honorable Mention: Esther Anderson

Not to dwell on this Bob Marley side gyal thing, but Bob knew how to pick ’em. Point in case: the breathtaking and talented Esther Anderson, who briefly dated Marley during the pivotal year of 1973. More than just a romantic partner, Anderson was a key player in the early incarnation of Island Records, acting as the label’s publicity director, and taking some of the most photographs of the iconic singer. The multi-talented Anderson went on to work as a dancer, actress and film director after relocating from Jamaica to England, starring alongside Sidney Poitier in 1973’s A Warm December, a role that won her an NAACP Image Award for Best Actress.
