Mash Up The Place: Los Rakas + More Take On Major Lazer’s “Bumaye”

Words by Deejay Theory —

It was only a matter of time before Major Lazer’s massive carnival anthem “Watch Out For This (Bumaye)” saw the official remix treatment. The original mix (which features The Flexican & FS Green) is one of my top personal picks of 2013, combining straight dancehall bizness from Busy Signal with salsa-flavored moombahton, all targeted straight for the waist. For the remix pack, what stood out first was “Desorden” from our Panabaynian homies Los Rakas, who of course sound right at home over the dembow-style production, blessing it with their trademark Spanish flow. As with all of Los Rakas’ joints, you don’t have to speak the language to just vibe out and get busy. There’s also killer takes from T.O.K and Shurwayne Winchester on the original riddim, plus five big-room and uptempo flips. (I’ll likely be sticking with the remixes over the OG version.) Login via Twitter to download the full pack here, or just stream “Desorden” below.
