Play reggae and looking for your big break? Marley’s Mellow Mood and the Marley family are launching a national search to find “the next great artist or band in the tradition of Bob Marley.” Prizes for the Marley’s Music Uprising contest include opportunities to perform on the Sierra Nevada, Electric Forest and Gathering of the Vibes music festivals this summer, and a grand-prize studio session at Tuff Gong Studio with Stephen Marley.
Entrants have until May 22 to submit original music via marley.sonichub.com, after which members of the Marley clan, including Ky-mani and Cedella, will select 25 favorites. From there, the public will vote for the top three slots, with one winner going on to perform at each of the aforementioned festivals. Those live performances will be documented on video and featured on the Marley’s Music Uprising website, where the public will choose one winner for the grand-prize: a trip to Kingston, including six days of recording at Tuff Gong and a session with Steve.
