No Liad: 2 Chainz Collaborates with Jamaican Producer

Words by Jesse Serwer—

Love him or hate him, you can’t avoid 2 Chainz. The G.O.O.D. Music rapper’s singles “I’m Different” and “No Lie” are inescapable as his features on “Problems’ by A$AP Rocky and Juicy J’s “Banda A Make Her Dance.” Yesterday, we came across a new song, “2 of Everything” by Boy Wonder a.k.a. Eddy Souza that features Mr. Chainz and some yardie mic chatter. A quick internet investigation reveals that the song was co-produced by RiecesPiec.es, a producer from Tampa by way of Jamaica whose previous work includes an official remix of M.I.A. ft Jay Z – “XXXO” and an EP that saw him mash up recent dancehall tunes by Baby Cham with recent singles by Future and Lil Wayne and TI.

We’re not sure if we’re buying “2 of Everything” just yet but, after the success of Kanye’s “Mercy” (also featuring 2 Chainz) last year (as well as Nas’ “The Don,” among other rap singles) we’re glad to see hip-hop artists and producers still tapping into dancehall to give their tunes that extra edge. Let’s hope that trend continues in 2013.
