Video: Watch Snoop Lion’s “La La La”

Words by DJ Gravy—

As you’ve probably heard, hip-hop icon Snoop Dogg recently took his career in a radical new direction, inspired by reggae, Bob Marley and the message of Rastafari. Snoop spent some time in Jamaica last winter to work on his debut reggae album, holding a press conference at Manhattan’s Miss Lily’s (where the pics in this post were shot) to announce his transformation from rapper to reggae artist and trading his canine status in for his new feline moniker,  Snoop Lion.

While in Jamaica, Snoop was (for lack of better words) “baptized” by a Rasta priest, visited Tivoli Gardens (one of two locations where his Mind Gardens outreach project will be creating an agricultural foundation) and spent time in the studio with LargeUp friends Major Lazer/Diplo, Dre Skull, Jahdan, Moon and several other writers and contributors to create his Reincarnated album.

A few months have passed since Snoop dropped his first single “La La La” (featuring and written by Jovi Rockwell) and announced he believed he was Bob Marley reincarnated and just yesterday, MTV premiered a kid-friendly, Halloween-themed music video for “La La La” complete with Snoop entering a coffin with a dog in hand, only to come out with a lion’s mane. Notably, the video is directed by Eli Roth, the director behind horror movies such as Cabin Fever, Hostel and The Last Exorcism.
