Impressions: The Styles of NYC’s West Indian Parade

Photographer Reid Van Renesse—check out his excellent photo series of Ramajay Mas Band preparing for carnival—was out on Eastern Parkway on Labor Day Monday for the annual West Indian American Day Carnival in Brooklyn. While the floats and trucks are ostensibly the attractions at NYC’s largest street parade, those who make it out to the Parkway every year know that the regular folks on the street—are just as big of a part of the show.
