The April 20 premiere of Marley, the documentary of Bob Marley’s life, was a highly anticipated event for reggae enthusiasts and music lovers worldwide, one we celebrated by interviewing director Kevin MacDonald. Universal Music Ireland took a different tack, unveiling a large canvas of Bob Marley in a Dublin record store and inviting fans to write a message to Bob’s family explaining what his music meant to them. The label collected over 700 touching messages, written around a drawing of Marley’s face to form his iconic locks. The piece was sent to his family as a token of appreciation and this time-lapse video was created to document the event. It was a beautiful gesture—Large Up Universal Music Ireland!
