Words by Jesse Serwer—
As the two top Jamaican producers of the last half decade, Stephen “Di Genius” McGregor and Serani certainly could get on about being rivals. But while their respective rises overlapped to some degree, and their hiphop-influenced, keyboard-driven sounds share a sonic sensibility, it’s always been love between the Big Ship and Daseca camps. The video medley for Daseca’s’ new Knockings Riddim hammers this point home dramatically, with Stephen and his brother, Chino, vibing out in the studio with Serani during a session for their collaborative track “Lowe Wi,” and Serani’s own “Evil Heart.” Watch the video below, and cop the full riddim (which also includes Laden’s “You & I”) here.
