He’s Santana, Bitch: Trinidad’s Favorite Puppet Makes A Movie

Words by Jesse Serwer—

What started out as a viral video short starring a very persistent, fête-going Trini puppet has grown, first, into a veritable Trini soap opera and, now, a full-fledged motion picture set to screen later this month. Yes, that’s right there’s a Santana movie: I’m Santana starts screening at Trinidad’s Caribbean Cinemas 8 and Digicel IMAX theaters on Jan. 25 and 28, respectively, just in time to have everyone chatting about it during next month’s T&T Carnival. Catch up on your Santana here, check the Santana Twitter for updates about screenings, and watch the trailer and the official video for the movie’s theme song, “Soca Muppet Puppet,” below.
