Everything Nice: Watch The First Video From Popcaan’s Upcoming LP

Words by Natalie Weiner–Popcaan-everything-nice-LargeUp

Popcaan has much to be thankful for—cosigns from artists like Pusha TDrake, Busta, and Snoop, a Billboard-charting single, multiple international tours… all before he’s dropped a full-length album. So it makes sense that he’s expressing his gratitude in “Everything Nice,” the first single off his upcoming Mixpak Records debut. Featuring an airy riddim from Dubbel Dutch, the track shows off Popcaan’s smooth vocals as he sings about balancing hard work and good times.

Popcaan has been rising up the dancehall ranks for a few years now. His abundant catchy, hook-filled singles have made him a household name in Jamaica and the Caribbean, and the aforementioned hip-hop collaborations have finally put him on the map in North America. His “unorthodox and oddly melodious delivery” has helped him move from Vybz Kartel protegé to one of dancehall’s biggest crossover artists. Hear more from the man himself in our LargeUp TV exclusive, “A Day In The Life with Popcaan.”

Fashion Fridays: Mixpak Records’ Vybz Kartel Tee

Words by Jesse Serwer—

Back in 2009, when Mixpak Records head Dre Skull had just stuck up a partnership with the Werl’ Boss, producing and releasing the dancehall star’s “Yuh Love” (a collaboration that led to their full-length Kingston Story project the following year), the label dropped this white tee featuring a purple-hued visage of the dancehall superstar. Four years later, a lot has changed in both Kartel and Mixpak’s worlds, but the shirt, which Mixpak has just made available again, still looks fly.
