Fashion Fridays: Supreme Wallabees

Words by Jesse Serwer—

Earlier this year, Clarks Originals and Supreme collaborated on a new spin on Clarks’ Desert Mali low shoe (“doing their part to bridge the gap between Wu-Tang and Odd Future generations,” as we remarked at the time), and the two iconic brands have teamed up once again. Just in time for the now-wrapping Fashion Week 2012 is this crocodile print-embossed nubuck flip on the classic Wallabee. No info on where to get these, or any idea of they come in colorways other than the fine “cognac” you see here, but trust, we’re looking into it. While we’re talking about all things Supreme and Clarks, Ghostface Killah recently indicated that his next album will be called Supreme Clientele Presents Blue & Cream: The Wally Era. Does that mean we can expect a return of the Wu Wear Wallys?

Fashion Fridays: YB Afraid

Words by Erin MacLeod–

Yohan Blake is not only a multi-medal winner at the London Olympics, but he’s also the founder of a foundation that bears his name. The YB Afraid Foundation began in 2011 with the goal of working to “support organizations and develop programs that address the educational, physical and mental health and social needs of underprivileged youth.” This year, the foundation developed a whole line of tshirts–they can be purchased exclusively at Joseph’s locations in Jamaica for 1500 JMD. The shirts are incredibly soft and comfortable–they come in white, black, green, yellow and red and all proceeds go straight to the foundation.

Fashion Fridays: Ewing Athletics Returns

Words by Jesse Serwer—

ewing-athletics

Jamaican-born NBA star Patrick Ewing wasn’t only a dominant center in the late ’80s and early ’90s, he was also the face of one of the era’s definitive  sneaker brands. “Ewings” were like the hood version of Jordans, off-brand enough to be bought at a discount but cool enough to earn your peers’ admiration on the playgound, and a lot easier to find on the Ave. than at Foot Locker in the mall! After nearly 20 years of dormancy, Ewing Athletics is set to make its return to the market next month, with four colorways of the classic high-top “33 Hi.” Check out some vintage flicks from Ewing Athletics’ heyday below, and stay tuned to their site for updates on more releases.
