Doktor himself doesn’t appear in the video for “Life,” but instead we get COLLAS — the mysterious masked mastermind behind Noise Cans — living his best life in Jamaica. Traveling across the island by motorbike, clad in his trademark Gombey mask, he mixes it up with the island’s youth on a dusty football pitch and in a gully-turned-skate park and lounges with a beauty in a North Coast villa, while director Matthew Da Costa treats us to stunning aerial shots.
“Life,” with its fusion of reggae and dubstep, is the latest release from Noise Cans, and its first for Dutch production duo’s Skink record label — one of many imprints the crew has worked with, including Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak; Jilionaire’s Feel Up Records; and, most recently, Yellowclaw’s Barong Family imprint, which issued Noise Cans’ Dutty Mas EP earlier this year.
Speaking on the video, COLLAS says:
“The video concept was me being in a real life setting amongst people who are happy regardless of their circumstances. They are happy living in their element, not needing the material things that so many people stress about to be happy. It was the true essence of me living life.”
